There are ways around this, separate regional playlists, rom managers that prune out "redundant" items etc. If a game came out in several regions, has dumped betas, or several revisions, your playlist will quickly become unmanageable. LaunchBox however, is a front-end for any emulator that can take command line arguments, including the entirety of retroarch itself. In the course of this project I had considered using an alternative libretro front-end, but most of them had the same problems as retroarch or are hardware targeted builds, something I wasn't concerned about since this was to run on my desktop. LaunchBox, originally designed as a front-end to DOSBox, has expended its reach to become a front-end for any piece of emulation software, as well as your steam, gog, epic etc library. It turns out I had known about the solution all along, but didn't know it had grown to meet my needs since I had first heard about it. I was prepared to bounce off of it again, but spent a day looking to see if there were solutions out of my personal hell. The only way controllers of any kind worked for me were from launching the game within RetroArch. In my case the game did not appear to make any difference, it never worked. To be clear, I tested with every combination of frontend + controller above and always had the same results. I can control the game using the on-screen controls, but the built in buttons & controllers only work if I start the game via RA directly. I can't remember if this issue is specific to Xbox One or Xbox Series X controllers, or if it affects both. Per the very last question, I'm reminded that I have seen some weird issues with Xbox controllers that are fixed by updating the firmware on the Xbox controllers. If testing with an Xbox controller of some kind, has the firmware on the Xbox controller been updated by plugging it into an Xbox? Have both Bluetooth and USB controllers been tested? What specific controllers have been tested? What version of Android are the affected devices running?Īre there any Android devices out there that don't have this issue? What specific Android devices are affected? Therefore, some questions that would help to narrow it down: It's extremely unlikely that the RetroArch code is to blame for an issue like this, though it is always possible. First off, this is 99% most likely a quirk with Android on certain devices, or a quirk with the way that Daijisho launches RetroArch. Since I have some experience with strange issues like this between emulators and frontends, I can probably help to narrow it down.
